CHICAGO- United Airlines (UA) plans to add more than 250 aircraft by 2028, marking the largest two-year fleet expansion by any airline. The move supports premium upgrades, new cabin products, and network growth.
Key hubs, including San Francisco (SFO), Los Angeles (LAX), Newark (EWR), Chicago (ORD), and Denver (DEN), will anchor new routes, aircraft deployments, and enhanced passenger experiences.

United Accelerates Fleet Growth
United Airlines is advancing its long-term growth plan by investing in fleet modernization, premium seating, and onboard technology. The airline will take delivery of over 250 aircraft by April 2028, expanding both narrowbody and widebody operations while replacing older jets such as the Boeing 757.
This expansion builds on the United Next strategy launched in 2021. Since then, the airline has added Boeing 787 Dreamliners, Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, and Airbus A321neos, while increasing premium seat capacity across North America by 40 percent.
The latest phase focuses on differentiated cabin products, improved passenger comfort, and consistency across the fleet. United aims to strengthen its position in the premium travel segment while maintaining competitive economy offerings.
