FRANKFURT- Lufthansa Airlines (LH) is expanding availability of its Allegris Business Class product on Boeing 787-9 flights operating from Frankfurt, with bookings opening for most seats starting April 15, 2026.
Frankfurt (FRA) becomes the airline’s second hub to operate the new cabin extensively, as Lufthansa increases Dreamliner routes and adds more premium seating options for long-haul passengers.

Lufthansa 787 with Allegris Class from Frankfurt
Lufthansa introduced the Allegris cabin concept in summer 2024 on Airbus A350-900 aircraft from Munich, representing a complete redesign across Economy, Premium Economy, and Business Class cabins.
Since October 2025, the airline has also operated Boeing 787-9 aircraft from Frankfurt with Allegris interiors. After recent certification progress, 25 of 28 Business Class seats are now cleared for commercial sale, allowing passengers to book these seats for travel beginning April 15, 2026. Three seats remain unavailable until final regulatory approval is completed.
The Boeing 787-9 Business Class cabin contains 28 seats in total. While all seats are installed, three remain temporarily blocked from sale pending final certification clearance.
Passengers booking Business Class continue to receive complimentary selection of Classic Seats, which provide full access to the new cabin features. Travelers seeking additional comfort may reserve enhanced seats at extra cost, including:
- Business Class Suite with sliding privacy doors
- Extra Space Seat offering more legroom
- Privacy Seat positioned at the window
- Extra Long Bed extending to 2.20 meters for sleeping comfort
Each option allows travelers to tailor their onboard experience based on privacy, space, or sleeping preferences.

New Global Routes Served by Allegris Dreamliners
At the start of the summer flight schedule, Lufthansa’s Frankfurt-based Boeing 787-9 aircraft with Allegris cabins will serve:
- Austin
- Rio de Janeiro
- Bogotá
- Cape Town
- Shanghai
- Hyderabad
- Hong Kong
Further expansion continues through summer:
- New York JFK and Los Angeles join the network in June
- Delhi follows in July
These additions significantly expand access to Lufthansa’s newest cabin product across North America, South America, Africa, and Asia.

Passenger Experience Improvements Across Cabins
Allegris represents Lufthansa’s largest cabin investment in decades. Beyond Business Class, improvements extend across the aircraft:
Premium Economy Class now offers larger seat shells, more storage, and upgraded privacy compared with earlier cabins.
Economy Class benefits from new ergonomic seats, improved inflight entertainment screens, USB charging, and better cabin lighting designed to reduce travel fatigue.
Business Class introduces direct aisle access for all passengers, larger entertainment screens, wireless charging capability, and increased personal storage space.
These updates aim to modernize Lufthansa’s onboard product and bring consistency across long-haul aircraft.

Fleet Growth and Delivery Plans
Lufthansa currently operates eight Boeing 787-9 aircraft based in Frankfurt, with 21 additional Dreamliners on order. The airline plans to grow the fleet to 29 aircraft by the end of 2027.
New aircraft deliveries support both network expansion and gradual replacement of older long-haul aircraft while improving fuel efficiency and passenger comfort.
Since Allegris entered service in 2024, more than one million passengers have flown in the new cabins, showing strong customer demand for upgraded seating and privacy features.

Certification Progress Enables Wider Availability
Regulatory approval of most Business Class seats marks an important operational milestone for Lufthansa. The certification allows broader seat sales while the airline continues work toward approval of the remaining seats.
Airline leadership reports strong customer satisfaction with the Allegris experience, encouraging continued rollout across additional aircraft and routes.
