DELHI- Tata Group-owned Air India (AI) resumes international expansion with the launch of its first customized Boeing 787-9 service and the restart of direct Delhi–Shanghai flights after nearly six years.
The airline restores vital business and tourism links while introducing redesigned cabin interiors on long-haul routes.

Air India Restarts Shanghai Flights
Air India has simultaneously strengthened its international network and upgraded its onboard experience through two major developments. The airline resumed direct services between Delhi and Shanghai while deploying its first newly configured Boeing 787-9 aircraft on the Mumbai–Frankfurt route.
The resumed Delhi–Shanghai route restores Air India’s direct connection to mainland China, serving business travelers, students, and tourists. The four-times-weekly service uses Boeing 787-8 aircraft, improving travel convenience between the two economic centers.
At the same time, Air India introduced its first customized Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner into commercial service. The aircraft marks the airline’s new cabin standard, which will gradually expand across its widebody fleet to improve passenger comfort on long-haul flights.

Delhi–Shanghai Flight Schedule and Service Details
Air India flight AI352 now connects Delhi and Shanghai four times weekly, supporting renewed business and tourism demand.
Flight Schedule: Delhi (DEL) – Shanghai (PVG)
- AI352: Departs Delhi 1200 hrs, arrives Shanghai 2020 hrs
- AI351: Departs Shanghai 2200 hrs, arrives Delhi 0315 hrs next day

The route strengthens India–China connectivity after a long service suspension and supports commercial and cultural exchanges between the two countries.

Mumbai–Frankfurt Dreamliner Deployment
Air India’s new Boeing 787-9 debuted on flight AI2027 between Mumbai and Frankfurt, marking the first commercial operation of the airline’s redesigned interiors.
Flight Schedule: Mumbai (BOM) – Frankfurt (FRA)
- AI2027: Departs Mumbai 1235 hrs, arrives Frankfurt 1730 hrs
- AI2028: Departs Frankfurt 2020 hrs, arrives Mumbai 0900 hrs next day
This deployment introduces passengers to Air India’s upgraded onboard experience while strengthening its European connectivity.

New Cabin Experience on Boeing 787-9
The new Dreamliner features upgraded seating, entertainment, and cabin comfort across all travel classes.
Business Class
The aircraft includes 30 private suites arranged in a 1-2-1 layout. Seats convert into fully flat beds up to 79 inches long and provide direct aisle access. Passengers receive wireless charging, 17-inch 4K QLED HDR screens, and expanded storage options.
Premium Economy
The cabin offers 28 wider seats in a 2-3-2 configuration with 38-inch pitch, enhanced recline, calf and leg rests, and 13.3-inch 4K QLED HDR entertainment screens.
Economy Class
The aircraft carries 238 ergonomically designed seats with improved comfort and 11.6-inch 4K QLED HDR screens designed for long-haul travel.
All cabins include Thales AVANT Up entertainment systems, USB Type A and C charging ports, Bluetooth headphone pairing, and mood lighting inspired by Indian wellness themes.
