DUBAI- Emirates (EK) announced a $38 billion order for 65 additional Boeing 777-9 aircraft at Dubai Airshow 2025, reinforcing its status as the world’s largest operator of the Boeing 777 family. The deal was revealed on the opening day of Dubai Airshow 2025.
The agreement includes options to convert the new 777-9 order into the 777-8 or proposed 777-10, providing strong support for Boeing’s 777-10 feasibility study. The airline’s expanded commitment deepens its role as a key customer in the Boeing widebody programme.

Emirates Orders 65 Boeing 777X
Emirates’ latest purchase strengthens its orderbook to 315 Boeing widebody aircraft, comprising 270 Boeing 777Xs, 10 Boeing 777 freighters, and 35 Boeing 787s.
The airline also increased its GE9X engine commitments to a total of 540 units, confirming its position as the largest GE9X customer.
The airline described this order as a long-term contribution to US aerospace manufacturing, supporting hundreds of thousands of high-value jobs across multiple states.
The agreement includes the flexibility to switch part of the order to the 777-8 or 777-10, aligning Emirates’ future capacity needs with projected global traffic growth.
Emirates stated that larger, more efficient aircraft are essential for managing rising passenger demand and airport constraints in major hubs worldwide.

Executives’ Statement
HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive, Emirates Airline and Group, stated: “Emirates is already the world’s largest Boeing 777 operator and we are expanding our commitment to the programme today with additional orders worth $38 billion for 65 Boeing 777-9s, and 130 GE9X engines. This is a long-term commitment and testament to our partnership with Boeing and GE, and to US aerospace.
Each of our aircraft on order has been carefully factored into Emirates’ expansion plan, which is aligned to Dubai’s growth plans. Flying a young and modern fleet with innovative cabin products has always been a cornerstone of Emirates’ strategy, and we look forward to continue working closely with Boeing to receive delivery of our first 777-9s from Q2 of 2027, and to equip our latest aircraft with state-of-the-art, industry-leading onboard products.”
On the 777-10 feasibility study, he added: “Emirates has been open about the fact that we are keen for manufacturers to build larger capacity aircraft, which are more efficient to operate especially with projected air traffic growth and increasing constraints at airports. We fully support Boeing’s feasibility study to develop the 777-10 and have options to convert our latest 777-9 order to the 777-10 or the 777-8.”
Boeing’s Stephanie Pope emphasized the airline’s four-decade partnership and its global reputation for excellence, noting that Emirates’ support will shape the future of the 777X family.
GE Aerospace’s Russell Stokes highlighted Emirates’ confidence in GE technologies and its position as the largest GE90 and GP7200 operator.

Emirates’ Delivery Pipeline
Emirates has operated every model of the Boeing 777 family across its 40-year history. The airline’s current fleet includes 119 Boeing 777-300ERs, 10 Boeing 777-200LRs, and 11 Boeing 777 freighters.
These aircraft connect Dubai to more than 140 cities across six continents, enabling global passenger travel and cargo flows.
Emirates will receive Boeing aircraft through 2038 as part of its extended long-term fleet strategy.
The production of the 777X and GE9X engines helps support aerospace workers across US states including Alabama, Kansas, Kentucky, Indiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Texas, Vermont, and Washington.
