MELBOURNE- Qantas Airways (QF) has resumed its seasonal non-stop service between Melbourne (MEL) and Delhi (DEL), reconnecting Australia and India ahead of Victoria’s peak travel period.
The route, which returned today, will operate until 28 March 2026, offering a crucial direct link for leisure, business, and student travelers between the two growing markets. The airline will operate three weekly return flights—on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

Qantas Resumes Melbourne to Delhi Flights
According to Travel Weekly, Qantas’ Melbourne–Delhi route will be served by the Airbus A330-200 featuring:
- 26 lie-flat Business Class suites
- 208 Economy seats
The aircraft is designed for long-haul comfort, offering in-flight entertainment, complimentary meals, and checked baggage for all passengers.
The airline first launched this route in December 2021 following the easing of pandemic travel restrictions.
The seasonal resumption aligns with strong demand during Australia’s summer and India’s winter travel period, making it a popular choice for tourists, students, and families reconnecting post-pandemic.
The flight will depart Melbourne at 09:20 and arriving in Delhi at 16:45 local time. This schedule adds over 1,300 seats per week and approximately 30,000 seats across the entire season.

Boost to Trade and Tourism
According to Qantas International CEO Cam Wallace, the reinstated non-stop flights will enhance Victoria’s visitor economy and benefit Indian cricket fans traveling to attend major events in Melbourne.
The timing coincides with high-profile fixtures such as the Australia vs India T20 at the MCG on 31 October, the Boxing Day Ashes Test, and multiple Big Bash League matches.
Australia’s Minister for Trade and Tourism, Senator Don Farrell, highlighted that these direct connections strengthen trade, tourism, and investment ties between the two countries.
He also noted that more flights encourage competition, potentially reducing travel costs and supporting job growth within Australia.

Expanded Connectivity Across India
Beyond direct routes, Qantas also provides year-round one-stop connectivity to India through Singapore (SIN) in partnership with IndiGo (6E).
This arrangement allows passengers from Melbourne to access major Indian destinations such as Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Chennai, alongside 14 other cities in IndiGo’s domestic network.
Additionally, Qantas continues to operate non-stop services between Sydney (SYD) and Bengaluru (BLR), expanding its footprint in one of the world’s fastest-growing aviation markets.
All Qantas fares include checked luggage, meals, and entertainment, ensuring a full-service travel experience.

Bottom Line
The return of Qantas’ non-stop Melbourne–Delhi flights marks a significant step in strengthening air links between Australia and India.
With over 30,000 additional seats available across the season, the service supports both tourism and trade while offering passengers greater travel convenience.
As travel demand between the two nations surges, Qantas’ expanded India network positions it competitively for the busy 2025–26 peak season.
