DUBAI- Emirates (EK) has unveiled the world’s first electrically powered Premium Economy seat with a full-height adjustable privacy screen on its Airbus A350 aircraft.
Dubai International Airport (DXB) will serve as the airline’s primary hub for the new A350 Premium Economy product, which adds greater privacy, wireless charging, and enhanced comfort.
Emirates A350 Premium Economy Introduces Full-Height Privacy
Emirates has introduced a new Premium Economy seat designed to give passengers greater control over their personal space. The electrically powered seat includes a full-height privacy divider between every seat, which Emirates says is the first feature of its kind in a Premium Economy cabin worldwide.
The new seat is installed in the airline’s Airbus A350 Premium Economy cabin, arranged in a spacious 2-3-2 configuration with 28 seats. Each seat is 20 inches wide and offers up to 39 inches of pitch.
The seat reclines into a cradle position without intruding into the row behind, allowing passengers to rest or sleep with less impact on neighboring passengers.
Electric Privacy Screen Adds Personal Space
Passengers can raise or lower the privacy divider using integrated seat controls and lock it at their preferred position. The full-height screen can create a more private environment for dining, working or relaxing.
The A350 Premium Economy seat is also Emirates’ first fully electrically powered Premium Economy seat. Passengers can adjust their seating position through an integrated Passenger Control Unit.
Dedicated settings include lounge mode and meal mode, allowing travelers to select different positions with the touch of a button.
U-Dream Headrest and Footrest Improve Comfort
Emirates has added its U-Dream headrest by Safran Seats to the new Premium Economy seat. The leather headrest provides adjustable wings that support the head and neck in multiple positions.
A manually deployable leather footrest provides additional support and is designed to reduce leg fatigue during longer flights.
Wireless Charging and USB-C Connectivity
Emirates is introducing wireless charging in Premium Economy for the first time. Passengers with compatible devices can charge them wirelessly during the flight.
Each seat also features USB-C charging and a tray table with an integrated phone holder. The setup allows passengers to keep their smartphones positioned for convenient viewing during meals or entertainment.
4K HDR Entertainment on Airbus A350
Passengers can access Emirates’ ice inflight entertainment system through a 13.3-inch 4K HDR touchscreen. The display provides high-resolution images and responsive navigation.
Newly delivered A350 aircraft also feature enhanced exterior camera views. Passengers can access left and right-side views in addition to the existing forward and downward cameras.
Premium Dining and Expanded Wine Selection
The Premium Economy service includes gourmet menus developed by Emirates chefs and influenced by regional cuisines. Meals are served on Royal Doulton fine china with linen napkins and stainless-steel Robert Welch cutlery.
The beverage selection includes Chandon Vintage Brut 2021, an Australian sparkling wine served exclusively to Emirates Premium Economy customers worldwide.
From September, selected routes will offer Chablis Premier Cru Jean-Marc Brocard 2024 and La Parde de Haut-Bailly 2014. In October, Wiston Estate Brut NV will become Emirates’ first English sparkling wine, served exclusively in Premium Economy on UK routes.
Emirates said it has invested more than US$1 billion in its wine portfolio since 2006.
Premium Economy Adds Wildlife-Themed Amenity Kits
Long-haul Premium Economy passengers receive reusable amenity kits developed with United for Wildlife. The kits feature designs highlighting endangered species across four natural habitats.
The bags use bio-based materials, including cactus leather alternatives. Emirates has also introduced Aveda plant-powered skincare products to its Premium Economy amenity kits.
The kits include socks, eyeshades, earplugs and dental-care items, with sustainable materials used throughout the collection.
Emirates Expands Premium Economy Across A350 Network
Emirates launched Premium Economy in 2022 and has continued expanding the cabin across its fleet. The product is now available across markets served by the airline’s A350 aircraft.
The cabin combines wider seating, increased legroom, enhanced dining, upgraded entertainment and greater privacy. Emirates Premium Economy has received multiple industry awards, including Best Premium Economy Class at the Business Traveller Middle East Awards in 2024 and 2025.
The airline was also named Airline with the Best Premium Economy Class at the 2025 ULTRAs Awards.
The introduction of the electrically powered seat and full-height privacy screen adds another major product upgrade as Emirates continues to develop its A350 passenger experience.
