CLEVELAND- Aer Lingus (EI) is strengthening its presence in Cleveland with significant service expansions scheduled for spring.
The Irish flag carrier will enhance its Dublin (DUB)-Cleveland (CLE) route from four to five weekly flights starting in April, followed by another increase to six weekly flights in May, Ishrion Aviation reported.
Aer Lingus Cleveland Flights
The service expansion aligns with Aer Lingus’s broader network strategy, which includes new routes to Nashville (BNA) and Indianapolis (IND) utilizing their new Airbus A321XLR aircraft.
Industry analysts note that Cleveland’s route might transition from the current A321LR to the newer A321XLR model, though Aer Lingus has not officially confirmed this change.
The potential aircraft upgrade emerges from an analysis of the airline’s planned schedule. The proposed timetable suggests two A321XLR aircraft could efficiently operate the Dublin services to Cleveland, Nashville, and Indianapolis.
Nashville and Indianapolis will each receive four weekly flights, while Cleveland’s increased frequency to six weekly flights appears to fit seamlessly within this operational framework.
Two Airbus A321XLR Delivery
Aer Lingus received its first pair of Airbus A321XLR aircraft at Dublin Airport, named EI-XLR St Lelia/Liadhain and EI-XLT St Melanie/Mella. These deliveries mark the beginning of a six-aircraft order, enabling the airline to expand its transatlantic network to Nashville and Indianapolis in 2025.
The A321XLR advances Aer Lingus’s capabilities with an 8,700km range, surpassing the A321LR’s range by 15%. This achievement positions Aer Lingus as the world’s second airline to operate the A321XLR and the second within the International Airlines Group.
These aircraft will serve Aer Lingus’s growing network of 18 U.S. routes from Dublin Airport. The A321XLR introduces enhanced passenger amenities, featuring the widest single-aisle cabin currently available.
The aircraft’s design includes 60% larger overhead bins and advanced acoustic engineering for noise reduction.
The interior configuration accommodates 184 passengers, divided between 16 full-flat Business Class seats and 168 Economy Class seats.
Aer Lingus prioritizes environmental efficiency with the A321XLR, achieving 20% lower fuel consumption per seat compared to previous models. The aircraft supports sustainable operations through its compatibility with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel.
