AMMAN- The flag carrier of Jordan, Royal Jordanian Airlines (RJ), is exploring the possibility of resuming operations in India, signaling a renewed focus on one of the world’s fastest-growing aviation markets.
The airline previously served two major Indian cities, Mumbai and Delhi, before ceasing operations following the completion and less demand.
Royal Jordanian Airlines India Ops
The last Royal Jordanian flight to Mumbai (BOM) departed on September 10, 2014, while its services to Delhi (DEL) concluded on October 31, 2014, marking the end of the airline’s presence in India.
In a notable development, the airline plans to return to India in 2025 with flights to both Delhi and Mumbai. This move reflects Royal Jordanian’s strategic intent to reconnect with key Indian cities, offering travelers enhanced connectivity between the two nations.
India remains a crucial market for the airline, with over 75,000 passengers traveling between the two nations in 2023 alone.
By reintroducing these key routes, the airline aims to offer enhanced connectivity, facilitating trade, tourism, and cultural exchanges between the two nations.
This could provide travelers with more options for direct flights between the two countries, improving connectivity in the Middle East-India corridor.
As India experiences exponential growth in passenger traffic and global connectivity, Royal Jordanian is well-positioned to capitalize on this burgeoning market with its potential return.
The resumption of these routes would not only benefit travelers but also reaffirm the airline’s position as a key player in the Middle East-India corridor.
While Royal Jordanian has yet to announce specific timelines and details, the move highlights the airline’s renewed commitment to tapping into one of the most dynamic aviation markets in the world.
