MUMBAI- On Tuesday (December 3, 2024) I received a message from an Indian-origin woman residing in Mauritius sharing her unsatisfactory experience with the Vistara Airlines refund process.
Vistara Airlines now merged into Air India (AI) on November 12, 2024, no longer exists as a brand, and all its booking-related queries are now transferred to AI Group.
Vistara Passenger Refund Issues
Mrs Reddy told us that she booked a flight with Vistara in Feb 2024 and due to some personal reasons she had to cancel it. However, she faced various issues while asking for a refund. Let’s hear from her:
“I booked a Vistara flight in Feb 2024 for a date in Oct 2024 via customer care over a phone call. I used a federal Bank card to make payment. In Oct, I reached out to cancel the ticket via customer care again and they promised a full refund.
However, it was refunded to the original mode of payment. Now I waited for a whole month and then realized that the last 4 digits on the original form of payment listed in my flight ticket didn’t match my card.
The refund amount went to that card, which I don’t even own. It’s been 2 months now I’ve been trying to get my money back. But after Vistara’s merger with Air India, it’s become impossible to even contact customer care.
I have lost 60,000 INR. It was an international booking and it’s a huge loss for me being a single mother. I had canceled the ticket because my daughter had to undergo surgery and was unfit for travel.
I was hoping to use the refunded amount for her medical expenses, but now I’m in deep trouble financially.
My take
I asked her to provide all the details to verify her claim and she provided all the proof with screenshots of payment, booking, and card number.
The airline should address such issues carefully and they should cross-verify the refund they issued if the passenger says they have not received it.
The new Air India should focus on customer satisfaction and providing better service.
I recently flew with Air India and I also felt that the Air India crew was not very active and welcoming. Complete review coming soon.
