ISTANBUL – Turkish Airlines (TK) has announced that it will launch new flights to Sydney, Australia, and Santiago, Chile.
These two routes, revealed by Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, are aimed at enhancing the airline’s route map.
Sydney Flights Begin November 28
Starting 28th November 2024, Turkish Airlines will launch its second Australian route, connecting Istanbul to Sydney. The route will be operated with a stopover in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia four times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
The inaugural flight, departing Istanbul at 1:15 p.m., will reach Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport at 4:30 p.m. the following day after a 70-minute refueling stop in Kuala Lumpur. Return flights will depart Sydney at 8:40 p.m. and arrive in Istanbul at 10:15 a.m.
Initially, flights will be operated by a Boeing 777 aircraft with a 2-2-2 business class configuration. However, from the 3rd of December, the airline will transition to the Airbus A350, offering 1-2-1 flatbed seating in business class.
Expanded Sydney Service in 2025
From 10th June 2025, Turkish Airlines will add a fifth weekly flight to Sydney, further strengthening the connection between Australia and Europe.
Looking ahead, the airline plans to introduce non-stop Istanbul-Sydney flights by late 2026, utilizing long-range Airbus A350-1000 aircraft.
Santiago Flights Start December 18
On December 18, 2024, Turkish Airlines will launch its first flight to Santiago, Chile, marking its debut in the South American country. The Istanbul-based carrier will operate four weekly flights, departing Istanbul and stopping in São Paulo, Brazil, before continuing to Santiago.
This route signifies a milestone for Turkish Airlines as it expands its footprint in South America, joining other destinations including São Paulo, Buenos Aires, and Bogota.
