CALGARY- The second-largest carrier in Canada, WestJet (WS) is adding new destinations and flights between Canada and the United States (US).
The airline’s expansion includes its first-ever service to three new U.S. destinations: Raleigh/Durham (RDU), Anchorage (ANC), and Salt Lake City (SLC), reported Ishrion Aviation.
WestJet New US Destinations and Flights
From its Calgary (YYC) hub, WestJet will launch new services to Raleigh/Durham International Airport with three weekly flights beginning June 9, and to Anchorage with twice-weekly service starting June 29.
The Anchorage route is particularly noteworthy as it marks WestJet’s first venture into the Alaskan market, opening up new opportunities for both leisure and business travelers.
Edmonton International Airport (YEG) will see enhanced connectivity with the introduction of five weekly flights to Salt Lake City beginning May 15. This new route provides Albertans with direct access to a major Delta Air Lines (DL) hub and a premier skiing destination.
Vancouver’s (YVR) route network will expand with two significant additions. A new service to Boston (BOS) will commence on June 9, with frequencies increasing to daily flights during peak periods.
This route, previously operated seasonally by Air Canada (AC) and currently served seasonally by JetBlue (B6), demonstrates WestJet’s confidence in the market demand between these two major coastal cities.
Additionally, Vancouver will gain a weekly service to Tampa (TPA) starting June 14, offering British Columbia residents direct access to Florida’s Gulf Coast.
The airline is also strengthening its existing network, with the Austin route from Calgary receiving an additional weekly frequency, bringing it to three flights per week. Edmonton’s connectivity will be further enhanced with a new route to Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD).
