LONDON- Richard Branson-founded Virgin Atlantic (VS) will resume flights to Mexico with a new route from London Heathrow (LHR) to Cancun (CUN), beginning on October 19, 2025.
The airline will operate three weekly flights on this route, marking the only direct service between London Heathrow and Cancun.
Virgin Atlantic London to Cancun
The new service offers passengers easy access to Mexico’s beaches, historical sites, and vibrant nightlife, as well as onward connections via SkyTeam partner Aeromexico and codeshare partner LATAM to Mexico City, Santiago, Buenos Aires, and Lima.
Cancun and its surrounding areas feature renowned beaches, ancient Mayan ruins, and eco-tourism spots in Riviera Maya and Tulum.
Virgin Atlantic Holidays will provide a range of accommodations, including luxury boutique hotels, adults-only resorts, and family-friendly all-inclusive. Excursions to Tulum, Xcaret, Xel-Há, and Chichen Itza—a UNESCO World Heritage site—will also be available.
Virgin Atlantic will operate this route with its Airbus A350-1000, featuring 16 Upper Class, 56 Premium, and 325 Economy seats.
Upper Class offers premium suites with fully flat beds and access to “The Booth,” an onboard social space with cocktails, dining options, and wine tastings. Premium and Economy cabins offer generous seating and upscale fabrics, ensuring a comfortable experience across all classes.

Virgin Atlantic’s Chief Commercial Officer, Juha Jarvinen, highlighted Cancun’s appeal for its vibrant nightlife, beaches, and proximity to Mayan ruins, while Andres Martinez, Director of the Tourism Promotion Council of Quintana Roo, emphasized the importance of expanding Cancun’s international connectivity.

This seasonal route will operate three times a week (Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday) and aims to enhance access to the Mexican Caribbean and its surrounding attractions. Economy fares start at £562, with tickets available for purchase from December 4, 2024.

Holidays Package: Starting November 12, 2024, Virgin Atlantic Holidays will offer a seven-night package in Riviera Maya, priced at £1,799 per person. Further, this package includes direct flights, all-inclusive accommodation at Dreams Aventuras, and applicable taxes, with the first departure scheduled for November 19, 2025.
