DELHI- Sikhs for Justice leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannun has issued severe threats targeting multiple Air India (AI) international flights, raising concerns about aviation safety.
The terrorist organization, known for orchestrating a deadly mid-air bombing of an Air India flight decades ago, now targets routes connecting India to major global destinations.
Pannun Threats to Air India
Pannun specifically named several Air India flights in his recent video message, focusing on routes between New Delhi and Toronto (AI 187, AI 189), Vancouver (AI 185), London (AI 111, AI 161), Frankfurt (AI 121), Sydney (AI 302), and Melbourne (AI 308).
Additional threats target Mumbai-London routes (AI 129, AI 131).
The terror leader has called for a widespread boycott of these flights while simultaneously urging actions to “kill India economically.” His message includes directives to target Air India operations and Made In India initiatives, ultimately aiming to “balkanize” the nation.
In a concerning development, Pannun’s message also contains a call to the Sikh Panth to honor Beant Singh, one of Indira Gandhi’s assassins, on October 31.
Global Intelligence Agency Silence
Senior intelligence sources have revealed to CNN-News18 that several Western nations, including the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada, remain passive observers despite terrorist threats emerging from their territories. These officials express concern over the hosting of a wanted terrorist who continues to operate freely within these nations’ borders.
The intelligence community warns that recent threats extend beyond mere boycott calls against Air India. They indicate that these messages serve as provocations, potentially inciting radical elements to launch direct attacks against the airline.
Intelligence sources emphasize the gravity of the situation, noting that a known terrorist openly threatens India’s economy, sovereignty, and leadership while receiving implicit protection from host nations.
The Pannun faces serious charges in India, including waging war against the state. Sources reveal the terrorist’s primary objective centers on rekindling anti-Indian sentiments among post-1984 Sikh youth.
32 Bomb Threats to Air India Flights
Air India received bomb threats targeting 32 flights on Tuesday (October 29, 2024), reports Times Now. This threat surge follows Monday’s incident where attackers targeted seven Kolkata-bound flights through social media platforms.
The National Investigation Agency has intensified nationwide security protocols in response to these escalating threats. Security agencies have documented over 400 hoax calls within the past two weeks, creating significant concerns for passenger safety and national security.
NIA’s cyber division has launched a comprehensive analysis of these threatening communications to establish their authenticity and identify underlying motives. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has issued direct orders to social media platforms, demanding immediate removal of bomb threat posts.
The ministry’s advisory explicitly warns social media companies of potential legal consequences for non-compliance with these removal requests.
