DUBAI- UAE’s flag carrier Emirates Airlines (EK) has significantly bolstered its cargo capabilities by placing a firm order for five additional Boeing 777 freighters.
The new aircraft are slated for delivery in 2025 and 2026, further strengthening the airline’s freight operations.
Emirates Orders 5 Boeing 777 Freighters
This latest acquisition brings Emirates’ total pending deliveries of Boeing 777Fs to 14 units, scheduled to arrive between now and the end of 2026.
The airline’s commitment to expanding its cargo fleet extends beyond new purchases, as evidenced by a recent multi-year lease extension agreement with Dubai Aerospace Enterprise for four Boeing 777Fs currently in service.
These strategic moves position Emirates SkyCargo to operate a fleet of 21 production-built Boeing 777 freighters by December 2026. This expansion marks a substantial growth from the current fleet of 11 units, nearly doubling the airline’s cargo capacity.
Emirates’ investment in freight operations doesn’t stop at new acquisitions. The airline remains committed to converting 10 of its passenger Boeing 777-300ERs into freighters, further diversifying and expanding its cargo fleet.
