COLOGNE- A tragic incident unfolded on a Jet2 (LS) flight from Bulgaria (BOJ) to Liverpool (LPL) last Monday, resulting in a passenger’s death. The aircraft, operating as Flight LS3214, departed Bourgas at approximately 1 pm local time on September 16.
Shortly after takeoff, the crew faced a medical emergency when a male passenger reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest.
Jet2 Plane Emergency Landing
The pilots swiftly diverted the aircraft to Cologne, Germany, declaring an emergency en route. Despite the crew’s efforts to resuscitate the ailing passenger, he succumbed to his condition before the plane could land.
Upon touching down in Cologne, the aircraft was directed to a remote section of the runway. A medical team promptly boarded the plane to assess the situation. The deceased passenger was then removed from the aircraft.
The unexpected diversion and subsequent events caused a significant delay for the remaining passengers. Flight tracking data revealed that the aircraft remained grounded in Cologne for several hours.
The journey to Liverpool John Lennon Airport resumed at 10:17 pm local time (9:17 pm BST), with the flight finally reaching its intended destination at 10:27 pm.
