DALLAS- Southwest Airlines (WN) kicked off its 11th year of partnership with Shark Week in style on Monday, July 1.
The airline hosted a surprise “Fin Flight” from Dallas Love Field (DAL) to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), delighting passengers with shark-themed festivities.

The celebration began at the gate in Dallas, where Southwest employees engaged travelers with a Shark trivia game. Lucky winners received beach balls and sunglasses, setting the tone for the shark-tastic journey ahead.
As passengers boarded the special “Fin Flight” to Los Angeles, Southwest staff surprised them with iconic Shark Week fin hats and eye masks. The airline aimed to create lasting memories of this unique celebration.
Chompie, the official Shark Week mascot, made a surprise appearance at the gate. The beloved character posed for photos with fans before joining the flight to LAX.
Once airborne, adult passengers enjoyed complimentary alcoholic beverages, including a special Shark Week cocktail garnished with a gummy shark. Southwest employees, sporting co-branded Shark Week t-shirts, greeted passengers upon arrival in Los Angeles.
The excitement continues throughout Shark Week, which starts Sunday, July 7, at 8:00 p.m. Southwest plans to host another surprise “Fin Flight” during the event.

Starting July 1, passengers can access free “Shark Week” episodes through the Inflight Entertainment Portal.
