Air India Passengers Struck in Denmark
Ashok Mehta, a 64-year-old traveler, expresses frustration: ‘We’ve been here for two days without any updates from Air India about our Delhi flight.’
A group of travelers faces unexpected challenges after their Scandinavian tour. Ashok Mehta and his family arrived at Copenhagen airport, ready for their 8:45 PM Air India flight to Delhi. However, at 11 PM, Air India announced the cancellation of AI158 due to technical problems.
The situation leaves passengers feeling uncertain and eager for information about their journey home.
Passengers endured a lengthy wait as officials reversed immigration procedures. The crowd, including vulnerable individuals, spent hours without food or water. Danish authorities held onto passports before allowing travelers to leave.
The provided accommodation resembles a hostel more than a hotel. Mehta highlights a significant issue with food options. While Air India offers meal coupons for a nearby mall, Jain dietary restrictions limit choices. Mehta survives on fruits and iced tea, while his wife hasn’t eaten in two days.
An Air India spokesperson responds: ‘Our Copenhagen team works to minimize guest inconvenience from this disruption. We’ve arranged hotel stays and offer full refunds or free rescheduling. We’ll announce the new schedule soon.’
As of July 3, 2024, the Boeing 787 registered as VT-ANQ is still at Copenhagen. Further it is a 10-year-old aircraft and features ‘Guru Nanak – 550 Years Celebration’ livery.
