MUMBAI- India’s youngest carrier, Akasa Air (QP) has announced the launch of its fourth international destination as it schedules non-stop flights between Mumbai (BOM) and Abu Dhabi (AUH), UAE.
This marks the entry of Akasa into the United Arab Emirates (UAE). There is a tremendous growth opportunity for carriers flying to UAE as it is the top international market for India.
Akasa Air Abu Dhabi Flights
Aviation A2Z source reported that the airline is scheduled to launch flights between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport and Zayed International Airport from July 11, 2024.
The Mumbai-headquartered carrier will operate daily flights from Mumbai’s T2 to Abu Dhabi with Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft.
Nathalie Jongma, the VP of Aviation Development of Abu Dhabi Airports welcomed the decision to direct flights. She shared her thoughts on LinkedIn stating,
Abu Dhabi Airports is excited to announce the imminent start of Akasa Air, launching direct daily flights between Mumbai and AUH effective July 11th, 2024. We look forward to welcoming you to Zayed International Airport!

Furthermore, the daily flight is scheduled to operate at a suitable time, which helps passengers to take connecting flights to Europe and North American destinations.
Here’s the flight schedule:
- Akasa Air Flight QP584 will depart from Mumbai at 17:05 Hrs and will arrive in Abu Dhabi at 18:50 Hrs.
- While the return flight QP585 will depart from AUH at 20:05 Hrs and will arrive at Mumbai at 1:00 Hrs.
It takes more than three hours to cover the flight distance of approximately 1,230 miles (1,979 kilometers) between Abu Dhabi and Mumbai.
Akasa Air known for its affordable fares and quality service is offering a one-way BOM-AUH flight for economy at 10,019 INR or 440 AED. While the return AUH-BOM flight economy fare is 14,282 INR or 628 AED.
International Expansion
Apart from Abu Dhabi, Akasa Air has so far announced or launched flights to three more international destinations.
On March 28, 2024, Akasa Air operated its maiden international flight to Doha (DOH), Qatar. Furthermore, in May the airline announced the addition of two more destinations in Saudi Arabia, which include Jeddah (JED) and Riyadh (RUH).
The launch of these new international flights will help the Indian low-cost carrier to triple its passenger capacity and cargo capacity of 5 million tons by 2030.
Furthermore, the airline has secured permission to operate flights to other Middle Eastern destinations such as Kuwait (KWI) and Medina (MED).
Well, top airline executives have frequently said that they are planning to secure rights to operate flights to Southeast Asian countries.
As of June 2024, Akasa Air operates 100s of daily flights to 25 Domestic cities and serves two international destinations, with two already in the launch stage. The Indian carrier has a single aircraft type fleet which consists of 24 Boeing 737 MAX 8.
Since its launch on August 7, 2024, the airline has served 10 million passengers. I was one of them and had a pretty decent experience with the airline.
The airline tries to offer premium service at a very affordable cost. They have cafe Akasa where you can pre-book meals curated by chefs. Recently, they have updated the menu to include around 45 meal options to choose from.
