MUMBAI- As of last week, Lufthansa (LH) Group airlines have broadened their codeshare agreement with Air India (AI). This expansion entails applying Lufthansa and SWISS (LX) flight designations to Air India routes to Australia.
Furthermore, SWISS has introduced LX-coded flight numbers for destinations in Nepal and certain domestic routes, reported Aeroroutes.
Air India Codeshare Partnership
The following codeshare routes have been active since around May 3rd, 2024:
Lufthansa flights operated by Air India:
- Delhi to Melbourne
- Delhi to Sydney
- Mumbai to Melbourne
SWISS flights operated by Air India:
- Delhi to Kathmandu
- Delhi to Melbourne
- Delhi to Sydney
- Mumbai to Goa Manohar
- Mumbai to Melbourne
Potential Partnership with Fiji Airways
Furthermore, Fiji Airways (FJ) is poised to refresh its code-share deal with Air India to leverage the expanding Indian market.
At the Q&A session of the Fiji Tourism Expo, Acting Prime Minister Viliame Gavoka stressed the significance of tapping into the Indian market, identifying it as a burgeoning opportunity for Fiji’s tourism industry.
He underscored the strategic link via Singapore (SIN), intending to strengthen the Singapore-India and Singapore-Fiji routes.
Gavoka mentioned plans to renew the code-share deal with Air India to utilize Air India’s market presence.
Beyond air connectivity, Gavoka disclosed ongoing discussions with multiple Bollywood movie producers for potential collaborations in Fiji later this year.
He emphasized that this initiative aims to augment Fiji’s allure as a filming destination and deepen the cultural bonds between the two countries.
