MUMBAI- Air travelers residing in Sangam City and surrounding districts can anticipate positive developments, according to officials at Prayagraj Airport (IXD), Akasa Air (QP) will commence two additional flights in May, enhancing air connectivity to three cities.
Akasa Air has received flight approval from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for routes to Bengaluru, Delhi, and Mumbai, as per their announcement.
Akasa Air Flights From Prayagraj
Presently, IndiGo offers direct flights from Prayagraj to Bengaluru and Mumbai, with one flight each. IndiGo (6E) and Alliance Air (9I) also provide one flight each from Prayagraj to Delhi. While IndiGo (6E) operates its flights on a daily basis, Alliance Air operates thrice a week.
Akasa Air is preparing to inaugurate flights from Prayagraj for the first time.
According to the current tentative schedule, the flight will originate from Bengaluru to Prayagraj and then proceed to Delhi. Subsequently, it will return from Delhi to Prayagraj, followed by a flight from Prayagraj to Bengaluru.
The proposal to operate the flight seven days a week has been approved, although the final status will be determined once the formal timetable is announced. Officials stated that operations are scheduled to commence on May 1st.
Preparing for MahaKumbh 2025
Simultaneously, the flight originating from Mumbai will transport passengers between the financial hub and Sangam City, with operations set to commence on May 20, as relayed by officials.
The schedules for both flights are slated for release this week, promising significant convenience for passengers, potentially accompanied by fare reductions.
According to officials, leading up to Mahakumbh 2025, a strategic initiative to launch flights from Prayagraj to 23 cities is a pivotal step in this direction.
“We’re actively gearing up for Mahakumbh-2025 and endeavoring to maximize aircraft operations for passenger benefit. The ticket counter and space allocation process for Akasa Air at Prayagraj Airport is underway,” remarked Rajesh Kumar, acting director of Prayagraj Airport.
