UNITED STATES- Delta (DL) employees are being given a glimpse of prototypes for a completely new, contemporary, and uniquely Delta uniform collection.
This collection has been crafted with input from the airline’s 70,000 uniformed employees, placing airport customer service agents, cargo agents, flight attendants, ground equipment mechanics, and aircraft technicians at the heart of the design process.
Delta Employees New Uniform
Since 2022, Delta has collaborated with GPS Apparel by Gap Inc. to develop its new prototype uniform collection.
Partnering with Gap Inc., a renowned and purpose-driven company boasting globally recognized brands like Old Navy, Gap, Banana Republic, and Athleta, grants Delta access to their extensive product and design expertise accumulated over 50-plus years in the industry.
Leveraging Gap Inc.’s vast platform and robust sourcing capabilities, Delta has gathered feedback from over 20,000 employees through job shadows, focus groups, surveys, and interviews. This feedback informs the creation of prototypes prioritising comfort, sophistication, durability, and functionality.
The uniform prototypes feature deep navy blues and rich burgundy hues, accented with vibrant red and white tones, embracing a return to a classic colour palette inspired by Delta’s brand identity and legacy.
With a focus on ease of movement, breathability, inclusive fit, and distinct design elements, Delta’s uniform collection offers a unified and refined appearance while providing employees with various looks and styles.
Crafted from OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100-certified fabrics and components, the garments are purpose-built for each division and role, incorporating functional elements to enhance job performance and instil a sense of pride in wearing the uniform.
Deltas New Brand Legacy With Iconic Logo
In homage to Delta’s brand identity and heritage, the collection integrates the iconic widget logo throughout, symbolizing the airline’s enduring spirit and culture.
First introduced in 1959 and prominently displayed on the tails of Delta aircraft, the widget embodies the airline’s commitment to progress and growth, with its flat base representing a solid foundation and the upward-pointing top symbolizing the aspiration to strive for excellence continuously.
Equipping Delta employees with new uniforms from head to toe will be a gradual process.
The airline plans to begin extensive wear testing for each uniform garment later this fall, allowing Delta employees to continue influencing the new collection’s fit, style, and functionality.
However, the complete rollout of new uniform pieces across all workgroups is not anticipated for the next several years.
Ranjan Goswami, Senior Vice President of Customer Experience Design, commented, “Delta has tens of thousands of uniformed employees, each with unique needs and preferences.
As a result, any evolution of the uniform program will require careful consideration and time to ensure it’s done right. We are committed to actively listening, learning, and refining this time as we strive towards a new look that embodies and celebrates who we are as Delta.”
