GOA- India’s newest regional carrier, Fly91 Airline (IC), has made its first proving flight from Goa Mopa International Airport (GOX) to Bengaluru International Airport (BLR) today, March 2, 2024. Fly91 founder Manoj Chacko shared the news on his social media page.
Further, the airline has officially revealed its IATA designator as ‘IC,’ the code previously used by Air India’s subsidiary Indian Airlines.
Fly91 First Proving Flight
The first flight, designated as IC8007, took off from Goa’s new airport at around 10:48 AM IST. After being airborne for almost one hour and 20 minutes, it landed swiftly at Bengaluru Airport at 11:48 AM IST.
The maiden proving flight is operated by ATR-72-600 registered as VT-FIB. Further, as per Planespotters.net data, the VT-FIB is 7.2 years old and was first delivered to India’s TruJet (2T). Later, it was taken up by Flybig (S9).
All the major Indian carriers, excluding Air India (AI), serve the Goa-Bengaluru sector.
Manoj Chacko remarked, “Historic day in the life of Fly91. Our proving flight from Goa to Bangalore….. super proud of my team!”
While revealing the IC designator, the airline wrote, “FLY91 is officially IC, (I see) a new Bharat through the wings of FLY91. We’re not just an airline; we’re a bridge connecting the vast and vibrant landscapes of Bharat. With new routes unfolding, every journey with us is a step towards a more connected and accessible Bharat. Fly with us, as we see a new Bharat together”
On Feb 28, 2024, the airline welcomed its first aircraft at its home in Goa. The airline wrote on social media, “Our bird finally came home. A moment of joy, pride & emotions for the entire team at FLY91. Today was a feeling of being on Cloud 91 & we can’t wait to meet you onboard.”
The airline is set to commence its operations in these cities: Sindhudurg, Jalgaon, Nanded, and Agatti, as well as prominent business and leisure destinations such as Bangalore, Goa, Hyderabad, and Pune.
The routes under UDAN 5.0 will enable FLY91 to establish connections from Tier 3 to Tier 2 cities. Further, the airline has taken two ATR-72s on lease from UAE’s Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE).
