LOS ANGELES- A woman reportedly managed to evade Nashville Airport (BNA) security and board an American Airlines (AA) flight bound for Los Angeles (LAX) earlier this month without a boarding pass (ticket) or identification.
The individual allegedly crossed a barrier in an unattended section of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) checkpoint line at Nashville International Airport, where passengers typically provide their ID.
American Airlines Passenger Without Ticket
Despite this breach, she underwent screening by security before successfully boarding the flight.
The TSA is currently examining the details of the incident, but they have confirmed that the traveler underwent physical screening, including her carry-on items, without any issues at the Nashville International Airport security checkpoint on February 7th before her flight.
TSA, in collaboration with its airline partners, is actively participating in the ongoing law enforcement inquiry.
American Airlines has acknowledged the incident, revealing that the misconduct was uncovered at some point during the nearly five-hour flight.
“On February 7, law enforcement greeted American Airlines flight AA1393 upon its arrival at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Our top priorities are safety and security, and we are aiding law enforcement in their investigation,” stated a spokesperson in an email to The Post.
The FBI apprehended the woman and conducted an interrogation, but as of now, she has not faced any charges.
The investigation remains underway, according to the agency.
Similar Incident
This recent incident is not the first occurrence of a stowaway successfully arriving at Los Angeles International Airport without proper identification in recent months.
In a similar incident last month, a 46-year-old Russian man named Sergey Vladimirovich Ochigava was found guilty of boarding a Scandinavian Airlines flight from Copenhagen by tailgating an unsuspecting passenger through security.
In December, at New York’s JFK Airport, a British man exploited the bustling holiday traffic at London’s Heathrow Airport (LHR) to board a flight without a ticket, mirroring Ochigava’s tactics.
The man reportedly followed behind various passengers through the airport’s automatic gates, security checkpoints, and passport control areas.
