GURUGRAM- RECARO Aircraft Seating, a renowned global provider of aircraft seating solutions, has been chosen by Air India (AI) as the preferred partner for premium economy and economy seating in their widebody aircraft.
This collaboration entails the installation of over 22,000 RECARO seats through both linefit and retrofit programs within the next five to six years.
Air India New RECARO Seats
Air India, a prominent global airline in India, has opted for the award-winning CL3710 and the recently introduced CL3810 for their economy class. At the same time, the premium PL3530 will enhance the premium economy cabin.
The initial phase of this partnership involves retrofitting 40 Boeing 787 and 777 aircraft with CL3710 and PL3530 seats, scheduled to commence service in 2024. The same seat configuration will be maintained for 12 A350 and 787 line-fit aircraft set to enter service in 2025.
In a recent development, Air India has extended their commitment by placing an additional order for 34 A350 and Boeing 787 aircraft. These will feature a new seating layout with CL3810 and PL3530 seats in the economy and premium economy cabins, respectively.

The PL3530, designed for premium economy class travelers, provides unmatched comfort, functionality, ample storage, and a generous 7” recline. The economy-class CL3710, distinguished by multiple design accolades, features a six-way adjustable headrest with neck support, enhancing sleeping comfort.

New IFE and Interiors
All seats will feature Air India’s distinctive custom trim and finish, with the latest in-flight entertainment (IFE) systems seamlessly integrated into each seat.
The ergonomic and sustainable principles are upheld by all three seats, and the distinctive RECARO comfort features are designed to ensure a relaxed passenger experience.
The unique seat design incorporates durable and lightweight materials, contributing to an extended seat life cycle while concurrently supporting a reduced carbon footprint for the aircraft.
