HONG KONG- Cathay Pacific (CX), Hong Kong’s flagship airline, has announced the resumption of its Chennai (MAA)-Hong Kong (HKG) flight service. The inaugural flight took off from Chennai International Airport on February 2, 2024, marking the commencement of a three-flights-per-week schedule.
This significant development signals a notable return to service after a four-year hiatus, reaffirming Cathay Pacific’s commitment to providing seamless global connectivity.
Cathay Pacific Hong Kong to Chennai Flights
Launched in June 2008, Cathay Pacific’s Chennai-Hong Kong route underscores the airline’s recognition of the significance of the Indian market.
Operated by the advanced Airbus A330 wide-body aircraft, this non-stop service offers customers the choice of 39 Business class flat-bed seats and 223 Economy seats, ensuring the highest standards of comfort and convenience. Return fares start from Rs. 40,900.
Given the positive trends observed among travelers from Chennai, the resumption of flight services enables customers to plan for both leisure and business travel during the upcoming summer months in April and May.
Through its Hong Kong hub, Cathay Pacific provides extensive connectivity to destinations across Asia and the world. It offers customers a seamless, hassle-free, and differentiated connecting experience between cities in the Greater Bay Area and Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA), encompassing comprehensive intermodal services such as air, sea, and land options.
Special Fares to Key Destinations
Cathay Pacific has introduced special fares from Chennai to key destinations, including the United States, Japan, and the Philippines. These exclusive fares, valid until February 29, 2024, provide customers with opportunities to experience Cathay Pacific’s renowned service.
The resumption of direct flights also means increased belly capacity for the airline’s cargo services from Chennai. This expanded capacity enables Cathay to offer more time-bound solutions for the Chennai market, meeting the growing demand for efficient and reliable cargo services.
This is particularly beneficial for time-sensitive products like perishables, mail, and courier services, ensuring regular and consistent deliveries.
Rakesh Raicar, Regional General Manager – South Asia, Middle East, and Africa, expressed, “The revival of direct flights from Chennai to Hong Kong reflects our dedication to delivering exceptional service and connectivity. Embracing our ‘Move Beyond’ philosophy, we strive to ensure an elevated travel experience for all. With the resurgence of both leisure and business travel from Chennai, accompanied by a noticeable increase in student traffic, we are devoted to offering services that cater to the diverse requirements of our customers. The strategic importance of key routes to and from Chennai aligns seamlessly with our commitment to providing enhanced connectivity.”
