NEW YORK- A plane operated by American Airlines (AA) skidded off the runway and onto the grass at Rochester Airport (ROC) in New York during its landing.

American Airlines Skids Off the Runway
“One of the passengers shared on X, ‘My AmericanAir plane just ran off the runway into the grass at @ROCAirport. Happy landings.’
A spokesperson from Rochester Airport verified that the American Airlines flight successfully landed on the main runway before sliding off onto the grass.
The cause of the aircraft veering off the runway remains unclear.
The AA5811 flight from Philadelphia, which skidded onto the grass, had 53 people on board, and fortunately, there were no injuries.
‘We just landed and were taxiing back. The pilot, while taxiing, took the turn too quickly, and we skidded into the grass,’ another passenger who lives in Rochester shared on X.
‘The plane is fine, and everyone is okay; they’re just not telling us anything about when we are getting off.’
A third person on board the aircraft said: ‘I am also one of the passengers on this flight. Very intense landing.’
Frustruation by Passengers
A picture taken from the plane captures the wing of the aircraft against the backdrop of a snow-covered grass field.
In a video recorded from inside the aircraft, emergency crews from the sheriff’s department and fire services can be seen responding to the incident.
Passengers expressed frustration about being stranded inside the aircraft on the grass for nearly an hour as they awaited transportation to the terminal by bus.
Another video depicted passengers being guided off the plane by firefighters.
Footage recorded by local television crews, including reporter Jennifer Lewke, showed the aircraft surrounded by at least five vehicles with blaring sirens.
A spokesman for Rochester Airport stated, ‘AA Flight 5811, an E-145 Embraer Regional Jet from Philadelphia with 50 passengers and 3 Crew, landed safely on the main runway.’
“While turning onto Taxi Way A2, the jet deviated into the grass. The cause is undetermined at this time. There were no injuries, and passengers are being transported to the terminal by bus.”
A spokesperson for American Airlines informed DailyMail: ‘After landing safely in Rochester (ROC), American Eagle flight 5811, operated by Piedmont Airlines with service from Philadelphia (PHL) to ROC, exited the taxiway while in transit to the terminal due to snowy airfield conditions. Safety is our top priority, and we apologize to our customers for their experience. Everyone on board deplaned safely and is being transported to the terminal by bus.’
