CHICAGO- United Airlines (UA) made further changes to its intercontinental operations for the Northern summer of 2024 during the schedule update over the weekend of December 8, 2023.
These changes will take effect from March 30/31, 2024. All dates mentioned are based on departures from the United States. The latest summary, including selected changes filed since AeroRoutes‘ last report in late October 2023, is outlined below.
United Intercontinental Changes for 2024
Here are the revised intercontinental operations for United Airlines during the Northern summer of 2024, effective from March 30/31, 2024, based on US departures:
- Chicago O’Hare – Barcelona: Seasonal service resumes on May 23, 2024, with the 787-8 instead of the previously planned -10. One daily flight.
- Chicago O’Hare – Frankfurt: The second daily UA944/945 787-10 service is maintained from March 30, 2024, instead of the previously filed -8. Overall, there will be two daily flights, both operated by the 787-10, as opposed to one daily each with the 787-8/-10.
- Chicago O’Hare – Paris CDG: The 787-8 replaces the -10 during the following periods: March 30, 2024, to May 1, 2024, and September 26, 2024, to October 25, 2024. One daily flight.
- Denver – London Heathrow: Seasonal 2nd daily service resumes from March 30, 2024, with the 787-9 operating.
- Los Angeles – London Heathrow: Seasonal 2nd daily service UA231/230 resumes from March 30, 2024, with the 787-9. Additionally, from March 30, 2024, to May 1, 2024, UA923/935 787-10 service is maintained instead of the 787-9.
- Newark – Barcelona: From March 30, 2024, the 777-200ER replaces the previously filed 767-400ER. One daily flight.
- Newark – Cape Town: From March 31, 2024, the 777-200ER replaces the 787-9. Three weekly flights.
- Newark – Frankfurt: The second daily service is canceled in NS24. From March 30, 2024, to May 1, 2024, the 777-200ER (originally filed 777-300ER) operates one daily flight. From May 2, 2024, the 787-10 service is maintained instead of the originally filed 777-300ER.
- Newark – Rome Fiumicino: From May 2, 2024, the seasonal 2nd daily UA510/511 resumes instead of May 23, 2024. Overall, two daily flights are operated by the 777-200ER.
- San Francisco – Brisbane: Service during the Northern summer season increases from 3 to 4 weekly flights from March 31, 2024, operated by the 787-9.
- Washington Dulles – Cape Town: From March 30, 2024, the 777-200ER replaces the 787-9. Three weekly flights.
- Washington Dulles – Edinburgh: Seasonal service resumes 5 weeks earlier from March 30, 2024, instead of May 2, 2024, operated by the 757-200.
- Washington Dulles – Lisbon: From May 30, 2024, six of seven weekly flights (Day x5 from IAD, Day x6 from LIS) are operated by the 767-400ER, replacing the 757-200

- San Francisco – Tel Aviv: 1 daily flight with a 777-200ER
- Washington Dulles – Tel Aviv: 3 weekly flights with a 787-8
