CANADA- Air Transat (TS, Montréal Trudeau) and Porter Airlines (PD) (P3, Toronto Billy Bishop City Centre) have revealed plans to enhance their current codeshare arrangement by establishing a comprehensive joint venture.
Porter will actively contribute to the feeder system for Air Transat’s leisure-oriented medium- and long-haul routes in this collaboration.
Competitive Network
This landmark agreement marks a substantial progression in implementing Transat’s strategic plan and a significant achievement in establishing a more sustainable and competitive network,” stated Annick Guérard, President and Chief Executive of Air Transat.
Porter is currently reshaping the North American market through a substantial continental expansion, and this alliance will only amplify its impact.
The mutual flow of passengers between both carriers will empower Porter to strengthen its network by increasing flight frequency on vital domestic and transborder routes and exploring new markets with reduced reliance on point-to-point traffic,” remarked Michael Deluce, President and CEO of Porter Airlines.
The carriers expect to implement the JV in 2024. They have had a codeshare agreement in place since 2022
Domestic Network
Air Transat operates without any regional aircraft or a domestic network. According to the ch-aviation fleets advanced module, its fleet consists of eight A321-200s, fifteen A321-200NX(LR)s, eleven A330-200s, and two A330-300s.
The airline primarily focuses on leisure markets in the Caribbean, the United States, Central America, and Europe, serving specific destinations in North Africa (Marrakech) and South America (Lima International and Cartagena Rafael Núñez International).
Montréal Trudeau is its primary hub, with a secondary base at Toronto Pearson.
