FRANKFURT- Lufthansa (LH) has recently submitted alterations to its intercontinental flight schedule for the Northern summer of 2024, concentrating on adjustments related to aircraft types and flight frequencies at Frankfurt Airport (FRT).
German flag carrier provides services to 211 destinations spread across 74 countries, with 24 of these destinations located within the United States.

Lufthansa Intercontinental Schedule Changes
As of October 19, 2024, here is a summary reported by Aeroroutes of the most recent planned modifications to the intercontinental network.
Frankfurt – Abuja – Port Harcourt:
- Effective April 19, 2024, service will reduce from 7 to 6 weekly, utilizing the A340-300 aircraft.
Frankfurt – Austin:
- Between March 31 and June 2, 2024, service will be reduced from 5 to 3 weekly, operated with the 787-9 aircraft.
Frankfurt – Beijing Capital:
- Starting March 31, 2024, daily service with the A340-300 aircraft will be maintained, replacing the previously planned 747-400.
Frankfurt – Bogota:
- Planned daily service with the A340-600 aircraft will be replaced as follows:
- From March 31 to June 3, 2024: A340-300
- Starting July 1, 2024: 787-9
Frankfurt – Boston:
- From March 31 to April 30, 2024, three of the seven weekly LH422/423 flights will be operated with the A340-600 instead of the A340-300.
- Starting on May 1, 2024, LH422/423 flights will consistently use the A340-600.
- A seasonal second daily flight, LH420/421, with the A340-300, will resume on May 13, 2024.
Frankfurt – Cape Town:
- Effective March 31, 2024, the service will be reduced from 7 weekly to 6 weekly, operated with the A340-300.
- From June 4 to July 2, 2024, service will be further reduced to 3 weekly.
- Effective July 3, 2024, it will return to 6 weekly.
Frankfurt – Chennai:
- Between May 5 and June 1, 2024, service will be reduced from 7 to 5 weekly, utilizing the A340-300.

Frankfurt – Dallas/Ft. Worth:
- The planned 787-9 aircraft will be replaced as follows:
- From March 31 to April 30, 2024: A330-300
- From May 1 to June 1, 2024: 5 weekly A330-300 and 2 weekly A340-300
- Starting from June 2, 2024: A340-300
Frankfurt – Denver:
- From May 6 to May 27, 2024, service will be reduced from 7 to 6 weekly, using the 787-9 aircraft.
Frankfurt – Detroit:
- The planned 787-9 aircraft will be replaced as follows:
- From March 31 to April 30, 2024: 3 weekly A330-300 and 4 weekly A340-300
- Starting from July 1, 2024: 3 weekly A330-300 and 4 weekly A340-300
Frankfurt – Houston:
- Effective March 31, 2024, the 747-400 aircraft will replace the -8I, except from June 1 to July 31, 2024.
Frankfurt – Hyderabad:
- Effective March 31, 2024, the 5 weekly service with the 787-9 aircraft will be maintained instead of the previously filed 3 weekly.
Frankfurt – Kuwait City – Dammam:
- Effective March 31, 2024, the 5 weekly A330-300 service will be maintained instead of the previously filed 1 daily.
Frankfurt – Lagos – Port Harcourt:
- Effective March 31, 2024, service will be reduced from the previously filed 1 daily to 6 weekly. One of the six weekly flights will be operated with the A340-300, replacing the A330-300.
Frankfurt – Los Angeles:
- The seasonal second daily LH450/451 service will resume on May 1, 2024, instead of March 31, 2024, using the A340-300.
Frankfurt – Mumbai:
- Between March 31 and June 30, 2024, the 787-9 aircraft will replace the A340-300 for the daily service.
Frankfurt – Nagoya:
- The three weekly A340-300 service will only be available for booking in full-fare J/Y-class.
Frankfurt – Nanjing:
- The three weekly A340-300 schedule has been removed, and the service remains canceled.

Intercontinental Changes
Frankfurt – New York JFK:
- Effective from March 31, 2024.
- One of the two daily flights, LH400/401, will use a 747-400 instead of an A340-600.
Frankfurt – Rio de Janeiro Galeao:
- Effective from April 1, 2024.
- The planned increase from 3 to 6 weekly flights will proceed as scheduled.
- From March 31, 2024, to June 30, 2024, A340-300 aircraft will be used.
- From July 1, 2024, 787-9 aircraft will be used (previously planned to start from April 1, 2024).
Frankfurt – Seattle:
- A330-300 aircraft will be replaced by the following aircraft for different periods:
- From March 31, 2024, to May 3, 2024: A340-300
- From May 8, 2024, to June 30, 2024, 4 of 7 weekly flights will use A340-300.
- From July 1, 2024, onwards, A340-300 will be used.
Frankfurt – Seoul Incheon:
- Effective from March 31, 2024.
- The 747-8I will replace the -400 with 1 daily flight.
Frankfurt – Shanghai Pu Dong:
- Effective from March 31, 2024.
- The planned resumption of a second daily service remains unchanged.
- LH728/729 will use an A340-600 instead of a 747-8I.
- LH732/733 will use a 747-400 instead of an A340-300.
Frankfurt – Shenyang:
- The schedule for 3 weekly A340-300 flights has been removed, and the service remains canceled.
Frankfurt – Washington Dulles:
- Effective from March 31, 2024.
- LH418/419 will use an A340-600 instead of a 747-8I.
- The seasonal second daily flight LH416/417 resumes four weeks later than planned.
- From this date onwards, 3 weekly flights will use A340-600, and 4 weekly flights will use -300 instead of A330-300.
