Oneworld Alliance Partners
The collaboration between these two airlines began in 2016 when they initiated a codeshare agreement and established a frequent flyer partnership.
Subsequently, in February 2018, they broadened their collaboration to include certain former Virgin America routes, including flights from San Francisco to Boston, Denver, and Newark.
The current authorization grants Alaska Airlines the permission to utilize JAL’s JL code on flights connecting various domestic destinations within the United States and on flights to international locations in Canada and Mexico.
In June 2016, JAL and Alaska Airlines formed a codeshare partnership that coincided with Alaska’s merger with Virgin America. Their collaboration took another step in March 2021 when Alaska officially became a part of the oneworld global alliance, solidifying their status as oneworld partners.
