DALLAS- Southwest Airlines (WN) has unveiled five improvements to its acclaimed Rapid Rewards program.
These enhancements are designed to show appreciation to the airline’s devoted Members by simplifying the process of achieving tier status, providing up to two complimentary premium drinks to A-List Preferred Members, and enabling Customers to use a combination of cash and Rapid Rewards® points to pay for Southwest® flights.

Jonathan Clarkson, Vice President of Marketing at Southwest Airlines, stated, “We are reinforcing our award-winning Rapid Rewards program by introducing new improvements to our loyalty program, ensuring that Members can earn and enjoy their benefits more easily.
“By reducing tier requirements and doubling the credit card spending that counts toward tier requirements, we can enhance our engagement with our brand and co-branded credit cards, all while preserving the core program values that our Customers appreciate, such as unrestricted reward seats, absence of blackout dates, and points that never expire.”
Southwest Rapid Rewards Updates
- Accelerate Your A-List Status: Beginning January 1, 2024, Southwest Rapid Rewards™ Members will only need to complete 20 qualifying one-way flights (formerly 25) or accumulate 35,000 tier qualifying points3 to attain A-List status.
- Speed Up Your A-List Preferred Status: Starting January 1, 2024, Rapid Rewards Members will only need to complete 40 qualifying one-way flights2 (formerly 50) or accumulate 70,000 tier qualifying points3 to achieve A-List Preferred status.
- Faster Accumulation of Tier Qualifying Points with Southwest Rapid Rewards™ Credit Cards from Chase: Starting January 1, 2024, Rapid Rewards Credit members will receive 1,500 tier qualifying points for every $5,000 spent (formerly $10,000) on purchases using their Rapid Rewards Premier, Premier Business, Priority, or Performance Business Credit Cards from Chase.
- New Benefit Alert—Free Premium Drinks for A-List Preferred Status: Commencing November 6, 2023, A-List Preferred Members will have the opportunity to enjoy up to two complimentary premium drinks per flight, conveniently added to their mobile boarding passes.
- Pay with Cash + Points: In the spring of 2024, Rapid Rewards Members will have the flexibility to pay for their flights using a combination of cash and points, starting with as few as 1,000 points.
