CHICAGO- The major US carrier, United Airlines (UA), took delivery of its First Airbus A321neo on October 12, 2023. This marks the carrier’s first delivery of an Airbus aircraft since October 2002.
The airline has scheduled its first flight using the Airbus A321neo for December 2023, with the narrow-body aircraft set to depart from Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) and arrive at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) on flight UA321.
United First A321neo Delivery
On October 3, 2023, United Airlines purchased 60 more Airbus A321neo aircraft, aligning with the airline’s “United Next” program to incorporate new planes into its fleet while streamlining and improving its worldwide network.
United had previously placed orders for 50 A321XLR and 70 A321neo aircraft. This additional order brings United’s direct procurement agreement with Airbus to a total of 180 A321 aircraft.
The A321neo offers remarkable fuel efficiency and a substantial reduction in carbon emissions compared to similar aircraft, representing a significant advancement for UA and its dedication to minimizing its carbon footprint.
United expects that the A321neo’s exceptional environmental attributes will help them make substantial strides toward achieving their CO2 emissions reduction target.
Spacious Cabin
United’s A321neo aircraft will showcase Airbus’ advanced Airspace cabin design, which includes a distinctive welcome area and state-of-the-art full LED lighting technology (designed to alleviate jet lag).
It also offers slimmer sidewall panels for increased shoulder-level personal space, enhanced window views with revamped bezels and seamlessly integrated window shades, spacious overhead bins, and additional features to elevate the passenger experience.
The A321neo is the largest model within Airbus’ A320neo Family, renowned for its remarkable range and performance.
It incorporates next-generation engines and Sharklets, resulting in a 50% reduction in noise, over 20% fuel savings, and a substantial decrease in CO₂ emissions when compared to earlier single-aisle aircraft generations.
Furthermore, it maximizes passenger comfort in the widest single-aisle cabin in the industry. Currently, over 5,400 A321neos have been ordered by customers worldwide.
