FLORIDA- Breeze Airways (MX) is continuing its expansion in Vero Beach, Florida (VRB), with more flights and potential new routes.
Breeze initiated its Vero Beach operations in February 2023, becoming the exclusive carrier serving the airport following Elite Airways’ discontinuation of services, reports Ishrion Aviation.
Breeze Airways Florida Flights
Initially, Breeze offered only two weekly flights to both Hartford, Connecticut (BDL) and Westchester, New York (HPN) from Vero Beach.
Subsequently, Breeze has increased flight frequencies and now intends to provide daily service on both routes. Additionally, the airline plans to exclusively operate its Airbus A220s to and from Vero Beach, offering premium seating options for passengers.
Furthermore, Breeze has introduced a new route from Providence (PVD) to Vero Beach, which will initially start as 3x weekly and soon increase to 5x weekly after its launch in November.
Breeze Airways has further expansion plans for Vero Beach. Starting in December, the airline intends to increase its flights to Westchester from 7x weekly to 10x weekly.
Additionally, Breeze plans to station an aircraft overnight at the airport beginning on December 19. Breeze typically stations aircraft overnight at select non-base stations, including Orlando (MCO), Fort Myers (RSW), Jacksonville (JAX), and Phoenix (PHX).
Currently, Breeze operates a route from Bradley International Airport (BDL) to Vero Beach (VRB) to Westchester County Airport (HPN) to Vero Beach to Bradley International Airport, using an Airbus A220. However, this routing may see changes in December.
Updated Schedule
In accordance with the updated schedule, one Airbus A220 will stay overnight at the airport and depart the following morning. However, there are notable gaps in the schedule on Sunday and Thursday evenings and Wednesday and Saturday mornings.
Breeze typically operates with high aircraft utilization, so they are less likely to leave an aircraft sitting on the ground for extended periods during the day when it could be in operation.
There’s certainly potential to expand flights to Westchester with this schedule or explore additional connections from Vero Beach to other cities like New York’s Islip (ISP), Pittsburgh (PIT), or Portland, Maine (PWM).
It’s important to note that this assessment might not be definitive. Breeze could simply be adjusting its aircraft utilization strategy by parking one at Vero Beach, which might be more cost-effective than overnighting at primary airports.
Breeze’s Providence to Vero Beach route follows a traditional out-and-back PVD-VRB-PVD routing, so further details about that schedule are not necessary.
With the changes in December, Breeze will offer 22 weekly flights to Vero Beach, potentially increasing to 26 weekly flights. This represents significant growth compared to the initial 4 weekly flights introduced seven months ago.
