MADHYA PRADESH- India’s largest airline, IndiGo (6E) Airlines, has unveiled Khajuraho (HJR) in Madhya Pradesh as its 80th domestic and 112th overall destination within its network.
According to its representatives, the airline is set to introduce daily direct flights between Varanasi (VNS) and Khajuraho and one-stop daily connections between Delhi (DEL) and Khajuraho via Varanasi.
IndiGo Adds Khajuraho as 80th Destination
Starting operations on October 10, these well-considered routes are aimed at enhancing connectivity and accessibility, aligning with IndiGo’s mission of seamlessly connecting individuals with various destinations, as highlighted by airline officials.
In response to strong demand from both leisure and spiritual travelers in the region, IndiGo has introduced improved connectivity to Varanasi.
The direct link between Varanasi and Khajuraho is set to reinforce domestic travel connections between Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.
Through these newly established routes, the airline aims to enhance travel options for passengers journeying between Khajuraho and Varanasi temple towns, thus expanding its domestic network.

Vinay Malhotra, Head of Global Sales at IndiGo, expressed excitement about the addition of Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh, to the airline’s destinations in India.
The newly introduced connections between Khajuraho, Varanasi, and Delhi will grant travelers access to an enchanting temple town at India’s heart.
These newly introduced routes are expected to provide passengers with expanded choices during the upcoming festive season. Further promoting economic growth and tourism in the respective states.

Rapid Expansion
In July 2023, IndiGo carried more than 76 lakh passengers, which eats up 63.4 percent of the pie. The on-time performance of the carrier remained higher and was around 86.8%.
IndiGo has been rapidly expanding its network; the airline has recently added flights to various international destinations. This includes Delhi-Baku, Ahmedabad-Abu Dhabi, Jeddah, Delhi-Tbilisi, Mumbai-Jakarta, Mumbai-Nairobi, etc.
IndiGo Airlines is also engaged in discussions regarding the potential purchase of Boeing’s 787 family of twin-aisle planes.
Livemint earlier reported that the competition for IndiGo (6E) Airline’s widebody aircraft order had been narrowed down to two contenders. Either the Boeing 787 Dreamliner or the Airbus A330.
