MUSCAT- Middle East carrier Emirates (EK) marks a significant milestone, celebrating 30 years of uninterrupted operations in Muscat, Oman.
Since its inaugural flight in 1993, the airline has been a pivotal link, transporting 4.8 million passengers to and from the Sultanate on more than 37,200 flights. Seamlessly connecting travelers to 140 global destinations.

Emirates Celebrates 30 Years in Oman
Emirates’ journey in Oman began with a Boeing 777-200 aircraft offering four weekly services. In 2019, the airline made history by introducing the world’s shortest scheduled A380 flight. Subsequently, covering a distance of 340 kilometers each way from Dubai (DXB) to Muscat (MCT).
This groundbreaking route allowed travelers to experience Emirates’ iconic products and services, renowned for their comfort, luxury, and flexibility.
Over the years, Emirates SkyCargo has played a vital role in facilitating global trade. Subsequently, transported over 155,000 tonnes of cargo to international markets.
Omani businesses have benefited from this service, with key local goods like garments’ threads and fresh produce such as fish, beans, and vegetables being exported to destinations across Europe, the US, Japan, Amman, Nairobi, and Pakistan.
This robust air freight network has bolstered Oman’s economic growth and global presence.

Nurturing Talent and Employment
Emirates’ enduring presence in Oman has contributed significantly to the country’s employment landscape.
The Emirates Group currently employs over 40 Omanis across various roles, including cabin crew, pilots, and positions in Emirates Engineering, Emirates Airport Services, and Airport Operations.
The airline’s commitment to nurturing talent is evident, with half of these employees having dedicated over a decade to the Emirates Group, gaining world-class expertise in the process.
Fahad Al Hassawi, Country Manager of Oman at Emirates, shared his thoughts on the milestone.
He stated, “Oman has been an important market for Emirates since the beginning of operations. It provides flexible connections to the wider world through Dubai for passengers and air freight.”
“Over the last three decades, we are proud to have brought more choice, comfort, and luxury to over 4.8 million travelers to and from the Sultanate, headlined by the deployment of the world’s shortest A380 flight. We are committed to the country and look forward to the next 30 years,” added Fahad.
