HAMBURG- On July 6, 2023 (Today), the flag carrier of Turkey, the Turkish Airlines (TK) flight from Hamburg (HAM) to Istanbul (IST) operated by Airbus A321, made an emergency landing at HAM.
According to the source, the Turkish flight crew received a smoke or Fire warning from the cargo compartment of the A321. Subsequently, they decided to return back to HAM shortly after taking off.

According to the flight tracking site, FlightRadar24, Turkish Airlines flight TK1668 took off from Hamburg (HAM) at 5:43 AM. It is scheduled to land in Istanbul (IST) at 8:35 AM UTC after covering 1,960 KM.
However, shortly after takeoff, the flight crew received a Smoke or Fire Alert from Cargo Sensors. They contacted ATC and decided to make a U-turn. Luckily, they weren’t carrying much fuel, and without wasting any time, they approached for landing back at HAM.

At around 6:02 AM UTC, 20 minutes later, they landed safely back at HAM. No Injuries have been reported so far.

The aircraft involved in the incident is a special Star Alliance livery Airbus A321-231. Further, it has the registration TC-JRR and is a 12.2-year-old aircraft; Airbus delivered it to TK in May 2011.

Another TK Incident
Turkish Airlines (TK) passenger suffered a heart attack on New York (JFK) to Istanbul (IST) flight on June 23, 2023. The flight operated by Airbus A330 made an emergency landing at St. John’s International Airport (YYT), Canada.
According to HavaSosyalMedya, the man who suffered a heart attack and his wife got off the plane in Canada YYT. Subsequently, there were around 296 passengers onboard the TK04 flight.
The Turkish media company tweeted about the incident and wrote, “Turkish Airlines’ #TK4 Istanbul-New York flight diverted to Saint John’s (Canada) Airport due to a heart attack passenger. #HSMözel.”
“The passenger and his wife got off the plane. The aircraft has recently completed its preparations and is in the closing phase. There are 296 passengers on the TC-LNF registered Airbus 330-type aircraft,” added HavaSosyalMedya.
