GREECE- On June 28, 2023 (Today), Europe’s largest carrier, Ryanair (FR), a flight from Corfu (CFU), Greece, to Milan (MXP), Italy, made an emergency landing back at CFU due to a possible bird strike. Subsequently, the Boeing 737 operated flight experienced engine problems.
Ryanair flight FR4471 between Corfu and Milan suffered a bird strike shortly after takeoff. Further, the bird hit the engine, leading to malfunction.

Ryanair Makes Emergency Landing at Corfu
According to Flight Radar 24, Ryanair flight FR4471 took off from the Corfu International Airport “Ioannis Kapodistrias” in Greece at 3:46 PM UTC.
Immediately after the takeoff, the flight experienced a bird hit, leading to a slower speed. Subsequently, the FR flight crew contacted the ATC, and the cabin crew prepared passengers for an emergency landing.
The Fire Service swiftly responded to the designated area where the plane was directed to perform an emergency landing while the airport authorities remained on high alert.
After burning extra fuel needed to reach Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP) in Italy was burned down by circling nearby the airport. At around 4:14 PM UTC, the flight landed safely back at Corfu.
The flight, operated by Boeing 737-800, registered as 9H-QCR, remained airborne for around 30 mins. Further, the aircraft involved in the incident is seven years and two months old; FR took it back in 2016. But now it is operated by Ryanair group subsidiary Malta Air (KM).

Flydubai (FZ) aircraft landed safely at Dubai Airport following a bird strike during takeoff from Kathmandu, Nepal.
The global flight tracking website Flight Radar 24 tweeted that it’s the most tracked flight. Further, more than 50,000 people followed the aircraft during the incident.
According to a statement issued by the airline, the Flydubai flight landed safely in Dubai and will undergo further inspection. The airline spokesperson confirmed that the flight crew followed standard procedures and continued the journey as the engine operated normally.
They also expressed regret for any inconvenience caused to passengers’ travel schedules. Further emphasized that the safety of passengers and crew is the airline’s top priority.
