PARIS- The National carrier, Philippine Airlines (PAL), has recently concluded a purchase agreement with Airbus to order nine A350-1000 long-range aircraft at Paris Air Show 2023.
The signing took place at the prestigious Paris Air Show, attended by top executives. Subsequently, including Captain Stanley K. Ng, President and Chief Operating Officer of Philippine Airlines, and Christian Scherer, Airbus Chief Commercial Officer and Head of International.
Philippine Airlines Orders Nine Airbus A350
PAL’s decision to acquire the A350-1000 is part of its Ultra Long Haul Fleet project. It is aimed at enhancing non-stop services from Manila to North America, including destinations on the East Coast of the United States and Canada.
Subsequently, these newly acquired aircraft will join the airline’s existing fleet of two A350-900s.
With a three-class configuration, PAL’s A350-1000 fleet will provide passengers with a comfortable and spacious experience. Further, the aircraft will offer separate cabins for Business Class, Premium Economy, and Economy Class, accommodating up to 380 passengers.
Captain Stanley K. Ng expressed his excitement: “This order will see PAL operating one of the youngest and most modern widebody fleets in Asia.”
The A350-1000 is selected for its exceptional capabilities. Further enabling PAL to align capacity with predicted demand on long-haul routes.
Additionally, the aircraft’s fuel efficiency significantly reduces carbon emissions compared to older models of similar size.

Christian Scherer, Airbus’ Chief Commercial Officer, hailed the A350 as the world’s long-range leader, setting new standards in non-stop flying capability, efficiency, and passenger comfort.
The aircraft contributes significantly to industry sustainability goals, reducing emissions and operating costs for intercontinental service. The A350 stands out as the most modern and efficient widebody aircraft, setting new standards for intercontinental travel. With its impressive range capability of 9,700 nautical miles or 18,000 kilometers non-stop, the A350 is at the forefront of commercial aviation.
As of May 2023, the A350 Family has garnered 967 firm orders from 54 customers worldwide, with 535 aircraft currently serving in the fleets of 40 operators, predominantly on long-haul routes.
