WICHITA, KANSAS- Spirit AeroSystems has revealed that they will manufacture composite fuselage for Honda Aircraft Company’s recently introduced light jet, initially showcased as the HondaJet 2600 Concept at the 2021 NBAA-BACE.
The expanded collaboration encompasses the production of a build-to-print composite fuselage and a composite bonded frame. By capitalizing on Spirit’s technical prowess, the enhanced scope of work aims to incorporate cost-effective design and manufacturing efficiencies.
In addition, Honda has announced its objective to obtain type certification for the new light jet in 2028. This new addition to Honda Aircraft Company’s product lineup will complement its existing model, the HondaJet Elite II, in the category of very light jets.

HondaJet 2600 Concept
Since its debut at the 2021 NBAA-BACE, the new light jet program has received a positive response from the market.
This next-generation aircraft is set to redefine the standards of light jets by offering a medium-sized jet experience, surpassing performance, comfort, and efficiency.
It boasts the distinction of being the world’s first light jet capable of nonstop transcontinental flights across the United States. Its quiet and spacious cabin, designed for long-range travel, can accommodate up to 11 occupants. The aircraft is also optimized for single-pilot operation.
Moreover, the new light jet will deliver exceptional fuel efficiency by aligning with Honda Aircraft Company’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions.
It is anticipated to achieve up to 20% better fuel efficiency than typical light jets. Further, over 40% better fuel efficiency than medium-sized jets during typical missions.

Honda Aircraft Company has successfully secured key suppliers for its new light jet through strategic supplier agreements.
Aernnova has been selected to provide aerostructures and components. While Garmin will contribute to avionics systems, Spirit AeroSystems will be responsible for manufacturing the fuselage. Finally, Williams International will supply the engines.
Currently, Honda Aircraft Company is in the final stages of completing the engineering designs for the new aircraft. Simultaneously, fabrication activities are already in progress, highlighting the company’s dedication to bringing the new light jet to fruition.
