In order to boost its revenue base, the proposed Noida International Airport in Greater Noida would also contain an aero city similar to those at Hyderabad and Delhi airports.
The 172-acre aero city would feature housing, dining, shopping, and similar leisure activities, according to Christoph Schnellmann, chief executive officer of Noida Airport.

According to Schnellmann, who spoke to FE, “we anticipate that the aero city, with hotels and a select few other facilities, will become operational with the completion of the first phase, which is at the end of 2024.”
“The concessions for commercial spaces like restaurants, shops, and hotels within the terminal area will be given out in the next nine months,” the official continued.
The concept of an aero city is becoming more and more popular among airport developers because, unlike Hyderabad or Delhi airports where the Airport Authority of India is a minority partner, the revenue generated by an aero city goes directly to the operator and is not required to be split with the joint venture partner.

The hotels and restaurants found in aero cities are different from those found on airport property because they are located outside the airport grounds. The earnings from Aero City belong exclusively to the airport developer.
At the moment, Hyderabad, which covers 1,500 acres, is the largest aviation city. Delhi is 200 acres behind. The GMR Group is in charge of these two airports.

The second airport in the Delhi-National Capital Region, which will be located in Noida, is expected to have one runway and one terminal when it has finished the first phase of operations.
It will have a capacity of roughly 12 million passengers per year. A total anticipated investment of Rs. 5,730 crore would be made in the Noida airport.
The bid for the development and management of the airport was won in 2019 by Zurich Airport International AG. Yamuna International Airport (YIAPL), a Swiss-based corporation, is in charge of the project.

At Noida International Airport, the nation’s first pod taxi will operate. The Noida International Airport and the Noida International Film City will be connected by a pod taxi route that has been proposed by the authorities. Pod taxis in Noida will probably cost Rs 8 per km, according to the reports.
