Beginning on May 6, 2023, Myanmar Airways International (MAI) will fly nonstop and directly from Yangon to Chennai every Saturday, greatly strengthening the connection between the two nations.
The addition of this new link will improve connectivity for leisure, business, labour, MICE, VFR, and medical visitors to Yangon and the rest of MAI’s domestic and international network.
One-way fares in Business class start at INR 47,840, and one-way fares in Economy start as low as INR 22,907 on specific routes offered by MAI.
All Economy Class and Business Class passengers travelling on MAI are given a free baggage allowance of 30 kg for checked bags and 40 kg for checked bags, respectively, in addition to the 7 kg of hand luggage.
Additionally, passengers travelling in MAI Business Class are given free access to the VIP Premium Lounge, which offers check-in, baggage delivery, a dedicated CIQ process, a 15-minute complimentary foot massage, and other perks when leaving Yangon.
Myanmar Airways Chennai-Yangon Flights
Every Saturday, once a week, MAI will fly on this route using Airbus A319/A320 or Embraer 190 aircraft. The 8M 630 flight will leave Yangon at 8:00 and land in Chennai at 10:15. At 11:15 a.m. Flight 8M 631 will leave Chennai and land in Yangon at 15:15. The full-service carrier MAI provides all IATA agents with a 3% commission on the base fare.
Currently, MAI offers service to 18 domestic and 18 international locations, and it has seamless interline agreements with 34 carriers.
Several passenger types are also given unique incentives by MAI. Pilgrims, such as monks and nuns, are given an additional 5% off of foreign flights. For business travelers, MAI provides an additional 10 kg of free baggage allowance as well as one free date change.

Diplomats receive priority check-in and boarding, a discount of 5% off international rates. Myanmar Airways International provides an additional 5 kg of free luggage and one free date change for medical passengers. Travellers who are seafarers may additionally benefit from an additional 10 Kg of free luggage.
In addition, MAI provides frequent flyer members with the Sky Smile program. Which entitles members to privileges like priority reservations, expedited check-in and boarding, preferential seats, lounge access, and hotel discounts.
By displaying the Myanmar Airways International boarding pass, Sky Deals participants can receive discounts of up to 40% at various Sky Deals partners. For agents to make reservations, MAI is accessible on all major OTAs and all top GDSs, including Amadeus, Galileo, and Travelport.
