Airports Authority of India
SpiceJet passengers faced a tough time on Friday as several flights of the carrier were not permitted to operate from the Delhi Airport due to non-payment of the requisite daily fee paid to the Airports Authority of India.
The airline told its auto payment facility faced difficulties causing payment failure, according to a statement. The Air Traffic Control, an arm of the Airports Authority of India (AAI), was instructed to not permit SpiceJet flights to fly as the payment was not made.“Due to a technical glitch in SAP, the automatic daily payment could not be processed.
The exact is being made manually to AAI which has been apprised of the. SpiceJet’s flight operations are now continuing normally,” a SpiceJet spokesperson told.
The AAI had put the airline on ‘cash-and-carry’ mode in 2020, which implied the airline would have to pay the airport user fees to the authority on a daily basis to be able to conduct operations. Airlines that are under financial stress are placed on the cash-and-carry route of daily payments instead of the usual credit account.
