Qatar Airways has introduced a virtual reality (VR) experience programme that allows visitors to see the airline’s check-in system as well as the flight experience.
It’s called Qverse, and it has the world’s first ‘MetaHuman’ cabin crew guiding website visitors through the virtual tour.
Epic Games’ Unreal Engine, the world’s most advanced real-time 3D production engine, and MetaHuman Creator, a cloud-based platform for building high-fidelity artificial humans, collaborated on the project.
Qatar Airways claims to be the first worldwide airline to debut a MetaHuman cabin staff, which includes a digitally produced 3D human model dubbed ‘Sama,’ which is Arabic in origin and means ‘sky.’
Sama provides an engaging customer experience by bringing them on a virtual voyage while narrating the features of Qatar Airways’ Business and Economy Class cabins.
“With physical boundaries being challenged on an increasingly larger scale by the metaverse, it’s exciting to embrace a technology that allows all travel enthusiasts to enjoy a unique immersive experience of our award-winning products and services”
said Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, Mr. Akbar Al Baker, in a statement
“Being the first airline to offer a MetaHuman cabin crew demonstrates our unrelenting commitment to innovating and delighting our passengers.” We are continually looking forward to adopting and introducing new technology that will improve the overall experience of our guests.”
