Due to technical issues, a Qatar Airways flight from Delhi to Doha with over 100 passengers was diverted to Pakistan’s Karachi airport.
The Qatar Airways QR579 flight from Delhi to Doha was scheduled.
In a statement, Qatar Airways said the incident is being investigated and that a relief flight is being organised to carry passengers to Doha.
“On March 21, Qatar Airways aircraft QR579 from Delhi to Doha was diverted to Karachi after declaring an emergency owing to smoke detected in the cargo hold,” according to the statement.
Mr Raliya said the plane took off from Delhi at 3:50 a.m. on Monday and landed at 5:30 a.m. in Karachi.
"We haven't been told when the flight would leave. There are ladies and children, and many individuals must fly from Doha on connecting flights "he stated
The plane landed safely in Karachi, where emergency services were provided after the passengers safely evacuated, according to the statement.
Qatar Airways also apologised for the disruption caused to the travellers.
