MUMBAI- On Saturday, actor Rashmika Mandanna took to Instagram to narrate an incident where she narrowly avoided a life-threatening situation. She found herself in a distressing scenario when her Vistara (UK) flight encountered a technical snag, leading to a diversion.
The actor, who was en route from Mumbai (BOM) to Hyderabad (HYD), had to return shortly after take-off due to unforeseen problems.
Vistara Flight Technical Snag
Sharing her experience on Instagram, Mandanna posted a selfie with actor Shraddha Das and captioned, “Just FYI, this is how we escaped death today.”
A Vistara spokesperson mentioned that the technical snag was identified shortly after takeoff on Saturday, and an alternate aircraft was arranged for the passengers.
“A technical issue was identified shortly after takeoff on Vistara flight UK531 from Mumbai to Hyderabad on February 17, 2024. As a precautionary measure following standard procedures, the pilots chose to return and safely landed the aircraft at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Mumbai. The aircraft is currently undergoing necessary inspections before resuming operations,” stated a spokesperson from Vistara to Moneycontrol.
“An alternative aircraft was promptly arranged and departed shortly afterward to continue the journey. Every effort was made to minimize inconvenience to passengers, including providing refreshments. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused to our customers. At Vistara, the safety of our passengers and crew remains our top priority.”
New Films
In the meantime, Rashmika Mandanna, who recently appeared in the highly successful movie “Animal” alongside Ranbir Kapoor, is currently immersed in the filming of “Pushpa 2: The Rule.” In this upcoming project, she will be reprising her role as Srivalli opposite Allu Arjun. The prequel, “Pushpa: The Rise,” achieved blockbuster status at the box office.
Notably, Mandanna faced a deepfake incident last year, becoming one of the initial celebrities to be targeted by this technology. The manipulated video, featuring British-Indian influencer Zara Patel, falsely portrayed Mandanna entering a lift in a black outfit, causing it to go viral on social media. The incident raised awareness about the potential dangers of deepfakes.
Addressing the matter, the actor shared a note expressing her distress, stating, “I feel really hurt to share this and have to talk about the deepfake video of me being spread online. Something like this is honestly extremely scary, not only for me but also for each one of us who today is vulnerable to so much harm because of how technology is being misused.”
“As a woman and an actor today, I am thankful for my family, friends, and well-wishers who form my protection and support system. However, if this happened to me when I was in school or college, I genuinely can’t imagine how I could ever tackle this. We need to address this as a community and with urgency before more of us are affected by such identity theft,” she added.
