A call was received regarding the presence of a bomb in from Delhi to Pune SpiceJet plane before its take off here on Thursday 12th January 2023, police stated. All the passengers and crew members are safe, they stated, adding that the aircraft is being checked.
Sources revealed the estimated departure time of the plane — SG 8938 — was 5:35 pm. The passengers were at the boarding gate and not inside the aircraft when the call was received, they said.
“Officials of the CISF and the Delhi Police are on alert.
We were told by authorities regarding a call they received where the caller stated there was a bomb in the from Pune to bound SpiceJet aircraft.
The SpiceJet aircraft is being checked but nothing suspicious has so far been found. However, we are following the security drill in accordance with our standard operating procedure,” a Delhi senior police officer stated. The senior police officer stated efforts are also to trace the caller and ascertain if it was a hoax call.

On Thursday 12th January 2023, a call was received at the SpiceJet reservation office about a bomb in the aircraft scheduled to operate flight SG 8938 (from Delhi to Pune).
At that time, boarding of passengers for the flight had not begun, an airline spokesperson told in a report on Friday 13th January 2023.
Following the call, the plane was moved to an isolation bay and was thoroughly inspected by security officials. “Nothing suspicious was found. The call was later announced as a hoax,” the spokesperson stated.
