Vistara CEO Vinod Kannan emphasized on Saturday that “more than 98% of pilots” had agreed to update contracts featuring a revised pay system, which industry insiders highlighted as a significant factor contributing to recent flight disruptions and delays.
Vistara (UK), an airline owned by the Tata Group, has been grappling with persistent flight cancellations for the fourth consecutive day, despite appeals from pilots at sister airline Air India (AI) for the group chairman to address the concerns of Vistara pilots.
Earlier this month, some pilots reportedly took sick leave to protest against the new salary structure proposed to them as part of Vistara’s merger with Air India (AI).
In anticipation of the impending merger between Air India and Vistara later this year, the Tata Group has taken steps to integrate the two airlines’ operations.
