Florida has again become the backdrop for renewed consolidation talks in the US ultra-low-cost airline sector, as Spirit Airlines (NK) and Frontier Airlines (F9) are reportedly back in discussions over a potential merger.

Diana beach-based Spirit Airlines (NK) and Denver-based Frontier Airlines (F9) are again resuming talks for a merger.
Currently, all attention is focused on the U.S. Justice Department’s attempt to prevent JetBlue (B6) from acquiring Spirit Airlines (NK) for $3.8 billion, a valuation nearly three times Spirit’s current market capitalization.
