Air India Ltd will soon announce salary increases across verticals, beginning with pilots, as competition for cabin crew and pilots heats up in the industry.

Sanjiv Kapoor, the CEO of Jet Airways, is a frequent user of social media and has no problem sharing his opinions on related topics. The aviation expert recently flew aboard one of India’s newest airlines’ aircraft, Akasa Air.
The passenger responsible for the ruckus, Muhammad John Jaiz Boudewijn, is himself a pilot for Indonesian carrier Batik Air. The pilot of the flight was forced to make an emergency landing at the Kualanamu International Airport, Medan, as the ruckus continued.
In the past two and a half years, a total of 60 pilots and 150 members of the cabin crew tested positive after undergoing a breathalyser (BA) test.
Airlines have very strict rules regarding pre-flight preparations so cabin crew has to plan well before to make sure they are on time. This may mean catching an earlier flight on standby (if commuting) or taking the before the bus to operate. Most airlines work on the 90-minute rule, so the cabin crew should aim to be there before that.

All cabin crew are trained in advanced first aid and aviation medicine and must complete yearly exams to show proficiency. Prior to flights, the cabin crew follows a briefing in which they must respond to questions not only on safety and emergency procedures but also on medical emergencies, to show that their knowledge is up-to-date and ready for any future eventuality.
