LONDON- A Jet2 flight travelling from Samos International Airport (SMI) in Greece to Manchester Airport (MAN) in the United Kingdom diverted to Split Airport (SPU) in Croatia on October 30, 2026, after the aircraft experienced a technical issue during the journey. The crew declared an emergency, prompting the aircraft to change course and make an unscheduled landing.
Flight LS1750 was operating the scheduled journey from the Greek island of Samos to Manchester when the problem emerged. The aircraft landed safely in Split, while Jet2 arranged a replacement aircraft to continue transporting affected passengers to the UK.

Jet2 Flight LS1750 Diverts to Split
The diversion involved a Boeing 737-800 operating as LS1750. Flight-tracking information identified the aircraft as G-JZBU, although the airline’s initial explanation did not specify the component or system responsible for the technical problem.
The crew transmitted the international emergency transponder code 7700 during the flight. This code alerts air traffic controllers that an aircraft is experiencing a general emergency and allows them to provide priority assistance, but it does not identify the exact nature of the problem.
According to Croatian aviation reports, the aircraft carried 165 passengers and six crew members. Split Airport received advance notification of the emergency landing and placed its airport and external emergency services on standby in line with standard procedures.
The aircraft landed without incident, and the airport’s emergency readiness was stood down shortly afterwards. Normal airport operations continued following the landing, with no injuries reported among those on board.

Jet2 Arranges Replacement Aircraft
Jet2 confirmed that the aircraft diverted because of a technical issue and said passengers would continue their journey using a replacement aircraft.
The arrangement allowed the airline to address the disruption without requiring passengers to make their own alternative travel arrangements.
The flight had departed Samos at approximately 1:40 p.m. local time, according to the supplied report, and was originally scheduled to reach Manchester at 3:30 p.m.
The diversion to Croatia interrupted the planned journey, although the replacement service subsequently provided a way for passengers to reach their intended destination.
The precise technical fault has not been disclosed. Jet2 has also not provided further details about the aircraft’s maintenance requirements or when the original Boeing 737-800 would return to service.

Aircraft Inspection Pending
The original aircraft remained at Split after the diversion so that technical personnel could examine it and address the reported problem before it returned to service.
Croatian aviation reports also indicated that Jet2 dispatched the replacement aircraft from Birmingham to Split to collect the stranded passengers and crew.
While waiting for the replacement aircraft, passengers and crew received refreshments at the Croatian airport. The replacement operation was intended to complete the interrupted journey to Manchester, rather than leave passengers to arrange separate onward travel. Croatian Aviation
The incident highlights how airlines handle technical problems during scheduled international services.
When a flight crew identifies an issue that requires an unscheduled landing, the aircraft may divert to a suitable airport where emergency services and technical support can be made available.
However, the activation of emergency procedures does not necessarily indicate that an aircraft was close to an accident. In this case, LS1750 landed safely, all 171 people aboard were reported unharmed, and Split Airport returned to normal operations shortly after the incident, Mirror reported.
The precise cause of the technical issue remains undisclosed, and no official confirmation has established which aircraft system was affected.
